The third annual Clifftop Challenge in aid of Breast Cancer Now will culminate with celebrations on Walmer Green this year.
Organisers Chantele and Phil Rashbrook have moved the finishing point for safety reasons as well as to cater for more runners and supporters.
They have also revealed that for the first time the running challenge will be on a Saturday (June 18) rather than a Sunday, in order to gain access to the Bandstand for entertainment.
Mrs Rashbrook, of Middle Deal Road, said: “Our main reason for moving from The Square is for safety reasons; the road was becoming a bit of a concern.
“At Walmer Green there is no main road for people to cross. With extra space, we also hope to get more runners.”
Athletes can choose from the same variety of starting points along the coastline, including a 55-mile option from Hastings, a 26-mile distance from Lympne Castle, a 15-mile course from Capel le Ferne, a 10-mile one from Dover seafront and a five-mile distance from St Margaret’s.
New for 2016 is a five-mile option for dog walkers, organised by the founder of Deal Dog Community Steven Colburn, and a children’s race for under-10s, with entry on the day.
As competitors cross the finish line on the promenade, entertainment and fundraising on Walmer Green will be in full flow.
There will be food and drinks stalls, a bouncy castle, an ice cream van and necessities such as mobile loos, as well as a raffle, tombola and music from The New Notes and The Kingsdown Band.
Mrs Rashbrook who has direct experience with breast cancer has raised almost £40,000 for the charity through this annual challenge.
She said: “We had about 100 entries last year and I would love to top that now that we’ve got a bigger venue.
“We just want it to be a relaxed family event, where people can come along, bring a picnic, tables and chairs and support the runners and Breast Cancer Now.”
Entry is £30 and includes an optional sponsorship form. Visit www.clifftopchallenge.com to sign up and make your payment via paypal.
