Police are warning residents in Deal and Dover to be on their guard against bogus callers and rogue traders after two different reports of suspicious behaviour.

One incident was reported in James Hall Gardens, Deal, at around 2pm on Friday, October 7, where a man was reported to knock on a door of a house, claiming to sell pet food.

On the same day another incident was reported to have occurred in Adrian Street, Dover at around 2.20pm.

A man was claiming to be ex armed forces and wanted to talk about the plumbing corps where it was alleged he went on to ask for support in completing his course.

Dover Community Safety Unit Inspector, Guy Thompson, said: “These are isolated cases but we want to take this opportunity to remind everyone to stay safe.

“Most people who call round will be genuine but sometimes this is not the case and people need to be cautious.

“Never invite anyone you don’t know into your home or give out your personal information to any visitors you are not expecting.”
