Helping to keep Britain’s borders safe has earned Austen Marsh recognition in the Queen’s New Year Honours.
Mr Marsh, who lives in Deal, is executive officer of Freight in Coquelles. He has been made a Member of the British Empire (MBE).
He said: “I am delighted and proud to receive this honour in recognition of my contribution to UK Border Security.
“Throughout my 29 years of service I have had the pleasure to work with both individuals and teams who have been professional and dedicated and I consider this honour to be a reward for all those who have given me many years of enjoyable service, whilst doing a difficult and sometimes arduous job.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank my family for all of their support and understanding during three decades of shift work and the resulting disturbances.”
