Donovan Simmonds scored the only goal of the game as 10-man Dover Athletic held on for a precious derby win at Bromley.
Whites skipper Shane Huke was shown a straight red card for an innocuous-looking challenge 10 minutes into the second half but his dismissal had little impact.
Simmonds (pictured) gave Dover the perfect start on four minutes when he swivelled to beat Lillywhites goalkeeper Tommy Forecast. However, the striker’s evening ended prematurely when he went off injured soon afterwards.
Bromley twice went close to levelling the scores through Danny Waldren, but Whites stopper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz thwarted him on both occasions.
Huke’s second half dismissal puzzled both sets of players, although the hosts were unable to take advantage. Dover withstood what pressure did come their way and could even have doubled their lead late on when substitute George Purcell fired just wide.
The result maintains Dover’s unbeaten record under new manager Nicky Forster and lifts them to seventh in Blue Square Bet South, four points off the play-off places.
