Air cadets in Deal are inviting new members to join their 100 Club to help raise money for a new minibus.
The 2235 (Deal) RAF Air Cadets – the Mercury’s charity of the year – want to increase the membership to make it a 200 Club.
It was started more than a year ago and has run successfully as part of the cadets’ fundraising to replace their dilapidated minibus.
But the bus is becoming expensive to keep on the road and, according to chairman Andy Fyfe, cadets are missing out on organised activities because it needs repairs.
“This is not fair to them,” he said.
“The MOT has just been renewed and we had another large bill to get it through.”
Increased membership will help raise more money and members could win themselves some too, with three cash prizes every month.
It costs £1 per month, per number, payable in advance for the year by cheque, cash or standing order.
Anyone interested in joining can collect an application form with the rules from the KM Mercury office or by emailing treasurer.2235@aircadets.org
The cadets would also like to hear from any businesses or people who may be able to assist with funds in any other way.
If you are able to assist, contact Sue Fyfe on either 07976 902009 or 01304 361051.
For more information regarding the cadets, call Officer Commanding John Kealy on parade nights at the Drill Hall, Hope Road – Tuesday and Thursday evenings – between 7pm and 9.30pm on 01304 389024.
