The Adelaide Farm Cafe is celebrating its 60th birthday this week.
The cafe has now been dishing up bacon butties, bangers and mash and cups of tea on the Deal-Sandwich Road since 1948.
Erected in 1927 by an Australian builder, the building was acquired in 1948 by "Old" Bill Farrington. Since then, generations of the family have taken their turn behind the famous counter to serve their customers.
Last year, "Old" Bill’s granddaughter Sophie, 19, was handed the reins by her parents Ian and Angela Farrington. Now she is relishing the challenge of running the family’s pride and joy.
To celebrate the cafe is selling tea at 1948 prices – a penny a cup.
The cafe was popular with the miners when Betteshanger pit was in operation.
