A new cafe owner will be opening her doors on Christmas Day especially for those who might be spending the day alone.
Elinor Crockford’s Park Cafe in Park Avenue, Deal, has teamed up with chef Tyrone Harewood to put on a three course spread.
They are being supported by the Tap House in South Street, which has agreed to provide wine with the meal.
Mr Harewood said: “We know that some people don’t have anywhere to go on Christmas Day, so we’re inviting them to come and hang out with us.”
There will be two sittings at 1pm and 3.30pm. The menu is prawn cocktail to start, followed by a traditional turkey roast topped off with mince pies and cream. It costs £22.50 and booking is essential.
Mr Harewood said: “We’re not trying to make money, it’s about allowing people to have a good time on Christmas Day. Plus I just really enjoy cooking.”
Mr Harewood has 35 years experience in the kitchen and has previously worked at Sutton Vale Country Club and Burger Bros.
He is best known for his reggae roasts which he served at the Lighthouse in Walmer.
Ms Crockford was offered limited opening hours when she took over the cafe, formerly Mrs Granville’s, in June.
Since teaming up with Mr Harewood she is now able to run a seven-day a week service.
She said: “I like to think of it as a place that supports people, somewhere with a real community feel. The range of things we do is continuously evolving.
“If people want to come in and make something or hold their support group here, then I’m open to it.”
