Northbourne Road in Great Mongeham has re-opened after a crash where a car flipped onto its roof this afternoon (Monday).

Kent Police was called to the scene by SECAmb at 2.18pm.

A blue Fiat Panda clipped the kerb, hit a lamppost and ended up on its roof.

Amanda Snell, owner of Hack ‘n’ Tack, opposite where the incident happened heard the car hit the road and called the emergency services.

She said: “I saw the car land and called the emergency services. I couldn’t believe the car had done that. She was going really slow.”

She added: “It’s not a busy road. Usually you just get cars pottering up and down.”

Ms Snell described the driver as an “older lady” who was “conscious” when rescued. She believed the woman did not have any passengers in her car.

The fire brigade were first on the scene, followed by the ambulance service and police.

Police closed the road between the junctions of Cherry Lane and Mongeham Road until approximately 4.30pm.

KCC Highways confirmed it has now reopened in both directions.

It is believed the driver was taken to hospital.
