A Cards for Good Causes shop is now open for business in Deal town centre, this year at a different address.

It was previously based in Deal Library but due to builders revamping the Broad Street premises a new base has been found in 20 Victoria Road.

On Monday East Kent Mercury editor Graham Smith cut the ribbon to mark the first day of business at the former fishing tackle shop.

Cards for Good Causes is the UK’s largest multi-charity Christmas card organisation with a big majority of the money spent going to the charities, as overheads are low with the stalls run by volunteers.

Deal shop manager Betty Flint said: "Although the Victoria Road premises are smaller than the library space, there will still the same card and gift selection and, of course, the warm welcome from our volunteers!"

* Cards for Good Causes opening times: Monday to Saturday, 10am until 4pm. There will also be a stall at the Collectors Market, Astor Community Theatre, Stanhope Road, Deal, on Sunday, November 21, from 10am until 4pm.
