The opening date of a popular children’s paddling pool has been revealed.
The shallow pool in Walmer, near Deal, is expected to welcome back paddlers next weekend after bosses had to push back their proposed opening date of the May half-term.
The pool closed in October last year and has been undergoing renovations during the winter months.
During the work, parts of the surface and surrounding area were refurbished.
Posting about the grand reopening on social media, bosses said: “We’re delighted that (subject to weather) the pool refurb works should be complete by the end of next week.
“We hope to reopen for the weekend of June 22.
“Of course, we would have loved to have been ready three weeks earlier for half term, but unfortunately, there have been unavoidable delays - not least with the weather.
“Although not finished yet, we’re sure you’ll agree with these pictures; they look great and will be well worth the wait!
“Thank you all for your patience in the meantime.”
Previous visitors were delighted at the news, with one responding: “It looks so much better already. I hope it will be open soon.”
Another added: “Amazing upgrades, guys, I’m sure the kids will be pleased with your efforts.”
Michael Humphries, who also operates Walmer Adventure Golf and the pirate-themed Rascal Bay Adventure Golf in Manston, took over the site lease for the paddling pool in 2021.
The site for children is free to use.
