Deal & Betteshanger score a try against Bromley
Deal and Betteshanger bounced back from the 3-0 loss at Lewes in their previous league outing with 31-11 victory over Bromley.
Lions opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the London 2 South East match when Bromley offended at a scrum.
Fly-half Martin Robinson kicked into the corner for David Farrell to gather and score, with Mathew Thomas converting for a 7-0 lead.
The visitors responded with a try, after a tap penalty, but Robinson made it 12-5 when he battled through after another kick forward.
Bromley pulled back a penalty but after the break Farrell got on the end of his own kick forward and scored under the posts. Thomas again added the extras to make it 19-8.
A penalty against the run of play reduced the deficit to eight points but Luke Armstrong burst forward 40 metres before offloading to Sam Johnson to go over by the posts. Thomas’ conversion made it 26-11.
Armstrong scored the final try to complete the win.
