Deal Town's Kent League match at Erith Town could fall foul of the weather

Derek Hares doubts whether his side will be able to end a month of inactivity by returning to Bulmers Cider Kent League action at the weekend.

Saturday’s league clash game against Sporting Bengal and a trip to Sevenoaks in the Premier Division Cup quarter-final on Tuesday night both fell foul of the weather and Hares doubts whether they will see action at Erith Town on Saturday.

Hares said: "It has been a strange week with no football. It has been a whole month since we last played and I’m not sure we’ll get the chance on Saturday.

"Even training has been difficult. The astroturf we use has been closed for two weeks but we are hoping to get back on there on Thursday."

Hares said having the artificial surface at their disposal was a ‘luxury’ for which Town were grateful, adding: "There are teams from higher divisions who haven’t been able to train so we’ve done well."

Should the game go ahead, Paul Rogers and Mo Takaloo will be suspended at Erith, who lie just two points ahead of 11th-placed Deal.
