A primary school plans to extend its main building and replace the temporary “dilapidated” timber classrooms.
These classrooms have been on the grounds at Kingsdown & Ringwould Primary for more than ten years, but now a permanent solution is being sought.
Despite council officers at Dover District Council and Kent County Council having no objections to the plans, there has been seven letters of concern.
People have shared their fears about the safety of the roads due to the 20mph speed limit not being honoured at Glen Road and there is congestion at pick up and drop off times.
Residents have provided photo evidence to the council demonstrating how the traffic affects their lives.
One letter claimed expanding the building would “enable the school to become something it was never intended to be – donated by the village for village children.”
However children from outside the village in Deal and Sholden go to this school due to oversubscription for places.
Councillors on the planning committee at Kent County Council will decide whether these plans will go ahead today.
