A man in his 60s has been taken to hospital as a priority after a serious crash on the A258 Deal to Sandwich Road, this afternoon.

The incident involving two private vehicles and a LGV (Long Goods Vehicle) happened near Sholden at around 1.30pm.

The driver of one vehicle was freed by firefighters before he was transported to William Harvey Hospital with a head injury and abdominal pain.

A spokesman for SECAMB said: “We sent two ambulance cars, one ambulance and an air ambulance land vehicle to the scene.

“Only one man in his 60s required hospital treatment.

“He was taken to William Harvey Hospital with injuries including a head injury and abdominal pain. He was fully conscious but none the less taken as a priority.”

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “When crews arrived one person was trapped and two were already out of their vehicles.

“They released the person that was trapped by 2.27pm and left the scene at 2.40pm.”

Kent Highways warned drivers to expect delays and it is thought the road is still not fully open.
