A partially paralysed crash victim who spent his savings fixing his broken motorbike is appealing for its return after it was stolen from his shed.
Kevin Southgate, of Mill Hill, was riding the bike when he was involved in an accident that left him wheelchair-bound last year.
After a year of treatment, the dad of six, 33, finally managed to save the £500 needed to get the bike fixed for his 11-year-old son Bailei Cooper.
The motocross Kawasaki KX 65 bike was stolen from his shed on Saturday morning at around 3am.
He said: "I was shocked and gutted. I couldn’t believe it."
The thief unbolted the bike but there were locks on the wheels which means it must have been carried away.
Mr Southgate, who lives with his partner Nicky Palmer, 29, said: "We’d literally just got it back. He had to wait a year for me to get out of hospital and save up the money to get it fixed."
On May 9, 2015, he crashed the bike into a mud bank in Maidstone and was badly injured.
He said: "I went 20 feet in the air and landed on my feet standing up. I had a broken back, pelvis and ankles.
"I was in King’s Hospital in London and then moved to The National Spinal Injuries Centre in Buckinghamshire. I haven’t worked for just under a year and now I’ve just found the money to fix the bike."
The former civil engineer has been left paralysed in one leg since the accident.
The bike belongs to his son who loves motocross riding and had been waiting all year for it to be fixed.
Two push bikes, a tyre and some tools were also stolen.
Police are appealing for information.
Amanda Wills, spokesman, said: "A green and white Kawasaki motocross bike worth £800, a grey and blue Cube mountain bike worth £300, a mountain bike tyre worth £50 and various tools worth £100 were reported stolen."
