A popular highlight of Deal Regatta Week has been saved by a £2,000 donation.

FS Leisure, who run Rivals Nightclub in Queen Street, stepped in to help after the fate of the Party on the Prom hung in the balance.

There were fears the event - that includes live music, Royal Artillery parachute displays, RNLI lifeboat shows and fireworks - would not go ahead after last year’s bad weather left the Regatta Association with a £2,000 shortfall.

John Trickey, chairman of Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown Regatta Committee, said: “We are delighted that the Party on the Prom will take place. It will be a great event.”

The Party on the Prom will take place on Wednesday, July 30.
