Turn out the attic, support the Deal Memorial Bandstand Trust and enjoy a fun day out.
That’s the call from Walmer Parish Council chairman Cllr Pat Heath, who is offering people a chance to donate cash to the trust next week at the Spring Brocante at Walmer.
The event on Sunday, April 19, includes a valuation session when anyone asking for the price of a treasured possession can donate money to the charity.
Experts from the Canterbury Auction Galleries will be at the event on Walmer Green between 10am and 1pm.
Walmer Parish Council is organising the day between 8am and 4pm and parish council clerk Jackie Warrrington said: "Local residents can find out how to turn collectables into cash and raise funds for the bandstand trust, as they will be asked to make a donation of £2 per item or £5 for the maximum of three items, with all proceeds going trust."
Parish council chairman Cllr Pat Heath said: "This year is the 20th anniversary of the bombing that killed 11 Royal Marines bandsmen and the council is keen to support the charity that looks after the bandstand and arranges the programme of free weekly concerts throughout the summer.
"We hope as many people as possible will turn out their attics, help support the trust and enjoy a fun day out at the brocante, which will have around 150 stalls offering a huge range of antiques, collectables and local arts and crafts, as well as a French food market."
Bookings for valuations will be taken from 9am onwards on April 19 at the marquee next to the bandstand.
