Woking's goal leads a charmed life against Dover Picture: Terry Scott
Dover’s hopes of playing in the Blue Square Premier next season are over.
Whites were held to a goalless draw by Woking in the Blue Square South play-off semi-final second leg at Crabble on Saturday, having lost the first leg 2-1 in midweek.
Woking were the better side early on with Craig Faulconbridge going close with a far post header that went over just after the half-hour mark.
The home side came back into the game and nearly broke the deadlock three times before the break. Nicky Southall and Shaun Welford saw shots cleared off the line and, in between those attempts, a Matt Fish header hit the bar.
Dover continued in the ascendancy after the break, but were unable to find the breakthrough.
Boss Andy Hessenthaler brought on Sammy Moore, who was returning from an ankle injury, and Jake Leberl. And Whites switched to three at the back as they went in search of an all-important goal.
Welford hit the bar at the death with a header, but Dover were unable to break the deadlock in a game they dominated.
Woking now travel to Bath on Sunday, May 9 to decide who will be promoted to Blue Square Premier.
