Dover's Billy Bricknell hits the post with this effort against Bath City at Crabble on Saturday Picture: Terry Scott
Dover Athletic extended their unbeaten run under new manager Chris Kinnear to five matches with a 2-0 win over Bath City at Crabble on Saturday.
Although Whites finished comfortable winners, they had one or two nervy moments early on, notably when Bath midfielder Adam Connolly hit the bar after 15 minutes and soon after, Dover keeper Mitch Walker tipped a Charlie Griffin header on to the woodwork.
But leading scorer Ben May edged Whites in front with his 17th goal of the season on 24 minutes and although Bath continued to pass the ball around neatly in midfield, they weren’t able to repeat their early penetration.
And their skipper, Gethin Jones, virtually sealed his side’s fate when he turned a 70th-minute Lloyd Harrington corner into his own net.
Walker had little to do in the closing stages as Whites took full control and substitute Billy Bricknell almost added a third goal when his cross-shot bounced away off the far post.
Whites, who remain third in Blue Square Bet South, are in action again on Tuesday with an away game against Maidenhead.
