Victory slipped through Dover’s fingers on the opening day of the Blue Square Bet South season as they let a two-goal lead slip against Farnborough at Crabble.
Nicky Forster’s first full season in charge of the Whites looked to be starting perfectly when goals from Chris Sessegnon and Barry Cogan gave the hosts a 2-0 lead at the interval.
However, Farnborough produced a spirited fightback and struck twice in the space of 15 second-half minutes to grab a share of the spoils.
Dover opened their account on 22 minutes. A swift break down the right-hand side ended with Sessegnon sweeping a shot home to mark his debut with a goal.
It was 2-0 10 minutes before the interval when another flowing move set up Cogan to breach the Farnborough backline and turn the ball beyond Craig Bradshaw.
The visitors pulled a goal back on 64 minutes when Nic Ciardini combined with Oliver Treacher and crossed for Dan Bennett to head past Lee Hook. Then, 11 minutes from time, Philip Page was fouled in the box and he picked himself up to score from the penalty spot.
On Tuesday the Whites travel to Sutton United. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
