Dover boss Andy Hessenthaler wants his side to avoid complacency when they take on East Preston in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday.

The Blue Square South leaders welcome the Sussex County League Division 2 strugglers to Perrys Crabble looking to maintain their 100 per cent home record this season.

East Preston beat Guildford on penalties in a first qualifying round replay following a 4-4 draw in the first tie.

Dover had their opponents watched in a 2-0 loss to Rye United in the first round of the Sussex County FA Charity Cup on Saturday.

Hessenthaler has vowed to field a strong side against the team which plays five levels below them in the football pyramid.

He said: “This will be their cup final and there is only one winner in games like this. If they win then it is a huge shock and if they lose then that is what everyone expected.

“We will treat it like another league game. We will give them respect. We have watched them and they have two or three individuals who could play at a higher level. We can’t be complacent.”

Adam Birchall – who scored both goals as Dover beat Bath City 2-1 on Saturday – suffered a knock in training and is a doubt, although Shaun Welford could be on the bench. Frannie Collin remains a week away, while Jake Leberl could also miss out after suffering a neck problem on Saturday.
