Dover Coastguard is urging people to stay away from dangerous coast lines amidst severe wind and rain.
East Kent’s coastlines are deemed too dangerous as wind speeds are expected to reach 40 to 50mph and gusts of up to 70mph.
Gordon Wise, senior watch manager at Dover Coastguard said: “The wind action is onshore and that will result in very large waves.
“Beaches become dangerous places, not just because of the wind or water but it also whips up the shingle like a machine gun.”
The coastguard is also warning against cliff walking and people who venture out to take pictures of the storm.
Mr Wise added: “The cliffs are very wet and the paths are slippery and with the wind speeds anyone that looses their footing would be in a dangerous situation.
“For people’s own safety, stay away from the coast, we would suggest that people value their own lives more than getting good pictures.”
People are being asked to act safe, be safe and stay away from coastal areas.
