The Dover Grammar School for Boys’ (DGSB) headteacher, Dr Richard Moxham, is leaving to pursue professional and personal interests elsewhere, the Mercury can reveal.
Dr Moxham has been appointed head for three and a half years at the school, based in Astor Avenue.
Taking his place is, Sonette Schwartz, who has been appointed interim headteacher with immediate effect for six months.
Mrs Schwartz has been headteacher at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College in Saltwood, Hythe, since September 2008.
The long-running headteacher was approached by Kent County Council (KCC) to see if she would like to run both schools, to which Mrs Schwartz accepted.
Mrs Schwartz said: "I am going to be running both schools.
"It is an exciting prospect it will be good.
"Both I and Dover will benefit from the relationship. I will make sure that every boy and girl can achieve what they can."
The annoucement also concluded the headteacher’s thanks to the school, it said: “Dr Moxham is grateful to the governors for the opportunity to lead what he regards as a delightful school and to the colleagues and students with whom he has found it such a pleasure to work.”
“DGSB has his warmest good wishes as it embarks upon the next phase of its development.”
