A man found collapsed in public toilets in Dover plagued by drug dealers and users has died today.

Terry Penfold, 41, died in hospital this morning after his life-support was withdrawn.

Emergency services were called to the Stembrook toilets in the town just before noon on Monday when Mr Penfold was found in one of the cubicles.

Passers-by helped give first aid and tried to revive him until paramedics arrived and he was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

Police were also called and sealed the area off for further investigations.

Mr Penfold was a familiar sight in the town centre and had recently been seen using crutches to get around.

A member of his family said although they had always been waiting for "the inevitable phone call", it was a "waste of a life".

There has been increasing concern about the use of the public toilets in the town by drug addicts and dealers - including the use of baby changing rooms for drug taking.

Used needles and other drugs paraphernalia are often left in the toilets.

There have also been several other deaths at the Stembrook and Ladywell toilets.
