Cyclist who died after crash on A258 with Vauxhall Vivaro van

A cyclist who died after a crash with a van on the A258 has been named locally as Daniel Squire.

The teenager is said to be 18 and from St Margaret's.

It comes as police appeal for help after the crash on the Dover Road in Ringwould at 8.40am on Saturday.

A Ribble road racing-style bike had crashed with a blue Vauxhall Vivaro van travelling in the same direction.

The rider of the cycle suffered serious injuries and was flown by air ambulance to a London hospital, where he died yesterday afternoon with his family by his side.

The road was closed for the investigation by the Serious Collision Investigation team, but reopened at 2.50pm.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, but particularly a pedestrian believed to have been walking along the A258 near to the village of Ringwould just beforehand.
