There is still more than £15,000 worth of ward grants available to the public, the Mercury can reveal.

Dover Town Council is appealing for community services to get in touch to apply for councillor ward grants before the end of the financial year.

After the introduction of the new grant scheme in 2012, councillors have used their funds to support various local organisations in achieving their goals.

Every financial year each of the 18 town councillors is given a £1,000 grant allocation.

Residents then need to approach them with their ideas for a project and complete a grant application form.

Councillors can combine their grant sums to fund larger projects with more benefits.

The financial help has made a difference to every recipient and has stimulated a flow of positive messages back to the Town Council.

Councillor Pam Brivio said: “The grant scheme is an excellent way for Councillors to be able to assist groups/clubs in their wards with funds to help with the operation of their activity.

“Some councillors still have funds available for this municipal year, so please contact them to check out the situation.”
