Members of Dover Youth Theatre are making final preparations before taking to the catwalk for their fashion show and cabaret evening this Friday to raise money for next year’s performing arts workshop.
They went along to De Bradelei Wharf on Sunday to try out some of the clothes they will be modelling at the show at St Margaret’s village hall. It starts at 7pm and tickets, which are available at the door, are £5.
Stalls will include the Body SHop, Tamarisk and Milleannvegas jewellery, and people will also be able to buy Cristmas cakes provided by Dover Lions Club, greetings cards and art, Jamie Oliver kitchenwear and cup cakes.
As well as showing off the clothes from various designers, the youngsters will also be performing cabaret items including scenes from The Importance of Being Earnest, Old King Cole, The Rope and The Red Balloon with songs from Phantom of the Opera, 42nd Street, A Funny Thing Happened On My Way To The Forum, Carousel and The Snowman.
Previous performing arts workshops organised by DYT have been very successful and free places are provided for more than 25 students to study various aspects of theatre for a week.
Among those leading the workshop will be a West End musical director, experts in drama and stage fighting, a choreographer and a film maker.
It culminates in a free public performance at Dover Town Hall.
