Dover claimed the honours in the Kent derby at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday night thanks to impressive strikes from Adam Birchall (pictured) and Nicky Nicolau.
A crowd of over 1,000 witnessed the match against Liam Daish’s Ebbsfleet side, who had won their last two matches away from home, and saw Whites maintain their unbeaten start to their Blue Square Bet South season.
Both sides came close early on, with Tyrone Sealey coming close on the half-hour mark for Fleet, before Birchall’s effort was saved by Fleet keeper Preston Edwards.
Birchall opened the scoring just before the break following a great individual effort, as the forward cut in from the wing before unleashing a shot across Edwards and into the net.
Whites dominated the second half and had a handful of good opportunities but were nearly made to pay for not taking those chances as Michael West was only denied by Ross Flitney’s save.
The visitors had to wait until the 80th minute to sew the game up. Substitute Nicolau smashed home a goal from 25 yards into the top corner for Martin Hayes’ side.
