Labour leader Ed Miliband appears to have spent New Years Eve with friends and family in Deal.

He was pictured in the Kings Head pub in Beach Street with landlord Graham Stiles' son James yesterday afternoon.

Mr Stiles senior said: "He came in yesterday lunchtime with a friend but didn't have a drink - he was with friends, he came in, then left."

A staff member from Platform 1 cafe at Deal station said: "When Ed Miliband was told that Ukip leader Nigel Farage was a regular visitor at the Kings Head he laughed and said 'now you tell me!'"

Mr Miliband is originally from London.
