Former Deal & Betteshanger Rugby Club junior Danny Herriott has won a place in this season’s England under-18 squad.

The 17-year-old prop forward earned his call-up to the 26-man squad after impressing at a preliminary squad training session at Leeds which was attended by 40 of the country’s top young prospects.

He said: "It was great to hear I had been selected, it’s what I have been working for. My game has improved so much since I started at the Northampton Academy."

Herriott will join the rest of the England squad for a training camp at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre next month as they prepare for their opening international of the season against Ireland in Dublin on December 30.
