Shop lifting, traffic offences and licensing issues were dealt with when extra police took to Deal's streets yesterday (Wednesday.)

Officers, including PCSOs and volunteers from the Special Constabulary, carried out high visibility patrols on foot, bikes and in police cars to deter criminals.

The crack-down saw 11 people dealt with for traffic offences. Some were given strong advice, and while others were issued with Traffic Offence reports.

Sergeant Carl Lidgley said: "There are officers on patrol in Deal every day but this was an opportunity to bring together a range of extra officers, including volunteer Special Constables, working together in the town.

32-year-old Daniel Nathan Fox of Park Avenue, Deal was arrested on suspicion of alleged shoplifting. He was charged with three counts of theft. He is due before Folkestone Magistrates on Wednesday, July 1.

Officers also carried out a stop-check on one individual which led to useful information being submitted to intelligence officers.

As part of the day of action, Licensing Officer PC Steve Alexander visited ten pubs in Deal town centre to support licensees and to ensure there were no issues and officers visited two local farms to support the rural side of the town.
