Monthly farmer's markets at Astor Theatre, Deal

The mouth-watering aroma of home-cooked foods will permeate the Astor Theatre in Deal every month starting from Saturday at a new farmers’ market.

Free range eggs, game, coffee and artisan bread are among the produce going on sale from 9am, all provided by local traders.

Hannah Macintyre from Homecooked by Hannah, decided to set it up after the farmers’ market at the Landmark Centre folded.

She said: “I thought at the time it was such a shame because there are so many producers, so I decided to see if I could recreate it somewhere else.”

The first market should see 18 stalls selling their wares. These include Hungarian food, smoked cheeses and fish from Margate Smoke House, vegetables, preserves, fine Kentish chocolates, cakes, apple juice, plants and healthy ready meals by Ms Macintyre’s business.

She and the Astor Theatre are aiming to hold the markets on the first Saturday of the month, with markets on October 4, November 1 and a Christmas one on December 20.
