Dover slumped to their fourth successive defeat in Blue Square Bet South on Saturday after an abysmal first-half display at Farnborough.
Nicky Forster’s side went in at the break trailing 5-0 and the Whites manager (pictured) later said: "I would like to apologise to all Dover Athletic fans who made the journey today. They saw an inexcusable first-half performance."
Dover fell behind after just six minutes when they failed to clear a free-kick and Dave Bennett slotted the ball home and Bennett added a second five minutes later.
It was 3-0 on 25 minutes when Dave Tarpey fired home and Whites were still in disarray as Reece Connolly made it 4-0 from a 30th-minute penalty after Lloyd Harrington handled in the box.
Connolly then completed Dover’s first-half misery with his second goal for the play-off chasers just before the break.
Dover, however, were much improved in the second half and two goals from substitute Billy Bricknell lifted the spirits of Whites’ travelling fans but it was all too little too late for Forster’s men who will now be desperate to halt their slide at Dorchester on Tuesday night.
