Feel Good week offers plenty of healthy activities

A special week of activities designed to make people feel good about Dover and about themselves will be launched on Good Friday with a range of sports and fitness classes at Dover Leisure Centre.

The Feel Good week is being organised by Vista Leisure and Dover Town Council and includes water sports as well as cycling, frisbee and musical activities.

It gets underway with launch day at the leisure centre on Friday when, for an entry fee of £1, people can use the swimming pool, try trampolining, squash, racket ball, table tennis, touchball and many other sports.

There will also be a children's play section with a bouncy castle and toys, a family fitness taster class, and tours of the gym with experts on hand to give health and fitness advice. The day runs from 10am-4pm.

On Monday, a Feel Good Fit Camp will be held at Connaught Park (10am-noon), where people will be put through their paces by a team of instructors. This also costs £1.

The Market Square will be the scene of a range of stalls offering health and beauty advice on Tuesday from 10am, when the Blue Bird Market will also be in operation.

The Nail and Beauty Academy, a healthy living puppet show and free Tai Chi taster sessions will be available, and members of the LA Music Club will be entertaining the crowds.

Also on Tuesday (11.30am-1pm) at the Leisure Centre, the whole family can try rollerskating, while one-hour taster sessions will be on offer at Dover Sea Sports Centre on the seafront (10am-4pm).

Bikeability sessions will be held on Wednesday (10am-2pm) on the seafront, meeting outside the Sea Sports Centre, with people being invited to bring their bikes and a helmet.

Pencester Gardens will be the scene of ultimate frisbee and family activities on Wednesday (noon to 3pm).

People will be able to try various sports on Thursday at Dover Town Hall (10.30am-3pm). Fencing, disability sports and indoor athletics will be among those on offer.

In Biggin Hall (11.30am-3.30pm) a Music 4 Dover event will be taking place with workshops being run by the LA Music Club and All Sorts of Music.

The week will be rounded off on Friday at Dover Town Hall with cheerleading fun (10am-2pm), when the national champions Vista Twisters will be leading workshops.

Many of the activities are free, some sessions cost £1 and the rollerskating is £2.
