A road in Walmer has been closed due to a field fire.

Firefighters were called to the cut corn field off Ellens Road at 4.05pm and remain at the scene.

Three appliances from Deal, Sandwich and Folkestone have been mobilised.

A KFRS spokesman confirmed part of Ellens Road is closed up to Mongeham Road.

Police have been called for traffic control.

A spokesman said: "We were called at 4.12pm to a report of a field on fire in Ellens Road, Deal.

"Officers are assisting Kent Fire and Rescue Service with a road closure while the incident is dealt with."
