Firefighters extinguished a car fire in Ringwould yesterday.

They were called to a Mercedes Saloon car on fire between Ripple Road and Ringwould Road at 11.20am.

Shane Giblin, firefighter, said: "We put out the car fire and a bit of overgrowth which was alight. There was no one around. The police have been informed."

The incident is believed to be suspicious.

It took fire crews half an hour to put the blaze out.
