Firefighters in Deal are still on the look out for charities to receive money from their Christmas collection.
Having collecting an outstanding £6,300 in the High Street during December, the crew based in London Road, are now sharing it out with local groups.
In keeping with tradition, a sum has been donated to The Firefighters Charity - the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families.
They help hundreds of thousands of individuals by providing world-class treatment and support services, at a cost of £9 million a year. With no government funding, they are reliant on the generosity and enthusiasm of supporters.
Others who have benefited from last year’s public donations include Epilepsy Here, the Mercury’s charity of the year - Prostate Support Association and Sainsburys - towards their defibrillator campaign and training packages.
But there is still money available, so crew manager Paul Evans is asking charities to get in touch.
He said: “If we can’t help this year we might be able to help next year.”
Crew manager Evans has thanked the people of Deal for their support.
He said: “We always get a good result in Deal so thank you. Considering what the economy is like at the moment, the amount raised was absolutely brilliant.”
