Firefighters extinguished a car fire in Gladstone Road in Deal in the early hours of this morning.

A dark red Skoda was targeted on the stretch of the road close to Woodstock Road, at approximately 2.10am.

One fire engine attended the scene.

Watch manager Malcolm Cowie said: “It’s severely damaged.

“We were there for about 45 minutes. We checked it out and made it safe. We also informed the police.”

The owners of the car were not present when the firefighters were at the scene. It is not clear if they have been informed.

Police are yet to comment.
