Firefighters tackled an unexplained fence and hedge fire in Deal, last night.

One appliance attended Rectory Road at 5.30pm.

The blaze had spread into a neighbouring garden. Both the owners and neighbours were made aware.

Crew manager Shane Gibbon said: "It was going up very well.

"We put it out using the hose reels and then just cleaned up.

"We're not sure what had caused it."

The crew left after about 45 minutes.
