At least 12 flats were flooded in Deal yesterday (Saturday) after a fault with the water mains.
Firefighters and one fire engine were called to Lloyd Court in the High Street at 10am.
They located the fault and waited for electricity and the water board to come and fix it.
Bob Bell, firefighter, said: "There was flooding in the flats down to a faulty mains on the second or third floor and that caused damage and flooding to the flats below.
"Approximately 12 flats were affected by water damage.
"Some residents were there but others we weren't able to get into every flat.
"There was water damage to communal areas as well as the flats and water running down the walls, soaking carpets and affecting the electrics.
"There was quite a lot of water damage. It will take quite a big clean up."
Firefighters left the scene at 1pm.
