A MAN indulged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old boy and took pictures of him, a court was told.
David Mallinder, 60, of Union Road, Deal, admitted three counts of taking an indecent picture of a child on May 9 last year.
Canterbury Crown Court was told he had previously served the community as a teacher and with Dover and Deal tourist organisations.
The court was told another man had been in touch with the boy via the Internet and they arranged to meet on May 8 last year.
The boy had claimed to be 16 and stayed in the guest room at Mallinder’s house for two nights.
On the night of May 9, the boy had been drinking and about 10.10pm Mallinder took three pictures of him, two with underpants on and one naked, as the boy lay with his eyes closed.
The boy later told the police who went to the house and seized a digital camera from the kitchen.
Darren Weir, prosecuting, said Mallinder pleaded guilty on the basis of his interview in which he said he believed the boy was 16 and during the day he had been drinking and flirting with the defendant.
They engaged in sexual activity and the boy agreed to the pictures being taken.
Asking for an adjournment for reports, Esther Schutzer-Weissmann, for Mallinder, said he was a man of previous good character.
Mallinder was bailed and will be sentenced the week beginning April 30.
Judge Adele Williams warned him the fact she was adjourning matters for reports did not mean the court was considering anything other than an immediate custodial sentence.
