Dover Mayor Cllr Ronnie Philpott says she intends to honour all her commitments in the coming weeks, despite fracturing a bone in her arm when she fell over on Friday.

Cllr Mrs Philpott, who is 70, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate on Friday afternoon and was initially told that the bone was broken and needed to be cast in plaster.

Yesterday the Mayor went to Buckland Hospital to be reassessed and was advised that she had a fracture to the head of the radius bone in her forearm.

The plaster has now been removed as Cllr Philpott was told it was not advisable to keep the arm immobile.

The fracture will take between four and six weeks to heal.

As a result of the incident, the Mayor was unable to attend two planned events at the weekend and had to cancel an engagement yesterday.

However, she says that despite her injury she will continue to attend future meetings and engagements.

“I was pleased to hear that the bone wasn’t broken,” said Cllr Mrs Philpott. “I know I’ll have to take it easy, but I fully intend to honour all of my commitments over the coming weeks.”
