A full scale search was launched at St Margaret’s Bay on Thursday night after a man from the village was reported missing.
Dover Lifeboat was joined by team of coastguards, a RAF helicopter, Kent Police and members of the Kent Lowland Search and Rescue.
The alarm was raised about 5pm and called off five hours later when the missing man was discovered suffering from hypothermia. He was in a garden in the village.
A spokesman for Dover Coastguards said: “It was a successful and happy outcome to the search.”
The man, who has not been named, was taken to hospital.
