EVERYONE from tiny tots to pensioners in the Deal and Dover area are continuing to fund-raise for little Phoebe Davies, the 16-month-old girl recovering from life-saving heart surgery in Canada. Phoebe and other members of her family are due to return to thweir home in Lydia Road, Deal, within the next fortnight.

Readers of the Deal Mercury and Dover Mercury are still collecting cash for the Friends of Phoebe Appeal. Mothers and toddlers from Trinity Church in Deal have raised £239.89 from a jumble sale and raffle.

Staff at Kwik Save in Dover have shown their support for the appeal by raising more than £600.

Assistant manager David Rose and Janet Peet organised a charity night which netted more than £500. The money will be divided between the Phoebe Appeal and Demelza House. Shelf stacker Derek Harold added to this total when he won the frantic bidding for an enormous Disney Tigger cuddly toy, which stopped at £100. He donated his win to five-year-old Joshua Peckham, the youngest person there.

Other staff involved in organising the event were Joanne Sylejmani, Pauline French, Christine Tingy and Catherine Dawson.

Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from Walmer, Kingsdown and St Margaret's held their Christmas carol service at St Mary's Church, Walmer, when a collection was made for the Friends of Phoebe. More than £100 was raised.
