Government Minister Margaret Hodge has described the newly transformed Great Tower at Dover Castle as "stunning" after she visited the historic monument on Monday November 16.

Mrs Hodge, who is culture and tourism minister, was seeing for herself how more than £2 million of government funding had been spent on returning the Norman Keep to its former glory, in all the colourful splendour of the days of King Henry II

Historian Steven Brindle, one of those responsible for researching the project to make sure that the recreation was authentic, showed the Minister around the King's Hall, chamber, bedroom and kitchen.

3D holograms are used to bring characters to life.

Mrs Hudge said the result was "stunning - a wonderful experience".

"I think it will bring a lot more visitors to this area, not just from this country but also from the continent," she said.

A total of £3.85 million has been awarded to Dover from the Sea Change programme to help boost tourism in the town.
