A Deal man who decided to “enhance” the town’s skateboard park by painting some of the ramps has been given an £80 fixed penalty notice.
The 20-year-old was arrested as a result of some good work by the CCTV staff and Deal PCSO Garry Faulkner.
The camera operators saw the man spray painting some of the equipment at the skate park in Victoria Park and alerted PCSO Faulkner.
He went to investigate and found the man armed with paint.
Police officers attended and arrested him for causing criminal damage.
He admitted the offence and was issued with the fixed penalty notice.
Sgt Guy Thompson from Dover Community Safety Unit said: “The offender stated that he was painting the ramps to enhance them.
“We don’t share his view. Graffiti is a crime and if you do it, you will be arrested for criminal damage."
Anyone with information about who is responsible for graffiti or any crime and anti-social behaviour is asked to contact their neighbourhood officer, or report it anonymously to Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
