Hairdressers who care are preparing to embark on a 12-mile sponsored walk for charity.
A team from Knots Hairdressing will on Sunday walk from Deal to Sandwich and back to raise cash for Breast Cancer Care, their charity of the year.
They will set off from the salon in Market Street, Deal, at 9am, taking the coastal route to The Quay in Sandwich and returning along the ancient highway.
Those taking part include owner Pietro Bonsignore, manager Claire Miller, receptionist Julie McCann and five stylists.
Mrs Miller said: “We wanted to have a dedicated charity and, seeing as we particularly deal with women, we chose Breast Cancer Care.”
The team of nine would like to raise £1,000.
Mrs Miller said: “Our clients have been very generous. We’ve had a pot at reception which has generated more than £100. With our own sponsorship as well, we’re more than halfway there.”
The salon has been under new ownership for 18 months. Mr Bonsignore said: “It was a failing business before. With my background in sales and marketing, I thought I could buy it and turn it around.
“We’ve built a website and we’ve joined Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Mrs Miller added: “We have met all of our targets in the salon and we think it’s about time we gave something back. We hope people can get behind us.”
The walk will be the first of many fundraising events for the salon, which plans to host an open evening event and a fashion show next year, all of which will raise funds for Breast Cancer Care.
