The motor torpedo boat which carried Churchill and Eisenhower to the final review of the troops before they left on D-Day has been in Deal and Sandwich for another annual visit.

Motor Torpedo Boat 102 was designed and built by Vosper in 1936 and during the Dunkirk evacuation she became the flagship for Rear Admiral Wake-Walker.

Judith Dore, from Deal Maritime and Local History Museum, said: “She is thought to be the only remaining Royal Navy vessel that took part in Dunkirk and in 1944 she carried Churchill and Eisenhower to the final review of the troops before they left on D-Day.”

The visits to Deal and Sandwich were organised by the Coastal Motorboat Heritage Trust.
