A new look Deal Library reopened on Tuesday and attracted big crowds of adults and children on their school half term holidays.
The doors have been closed since December 20 while a refit costing £645,000 has been completed.
Leo the Lion made an appearance and read to the children, the public computers were in use all day and there were queues at the new counters.
Kirsty Taylor-Smith, district manager for Dover and Thanet, said: "It was a very busy day. The books were flying off the shelves and there was positive feed-back about the new layout.
"I was delighted for the staff, who worked so hard in the run up to Tuesday morning. It was worth all the hard work to see so many customers.
"There were positive comments about the how bright, light and spacious the library now is, and we welcome remarks in our comments book."
