The lighthouse in the channel off the Port of Dover was the feature picture on the homepage of the internet search engine Bing on Good Friday.
Showing to about 11 million people, it was a striking image with the White Cliffs of Dover in the background.
Users could hover their mouse over hotspots which guided them around the eerie image.
These hotspots detail enlightening information about the Strait of Dover, officially defined as the narrowest part of the English Channel.
Another hotspot reveals the dramatic details around the Dover Strait earthquake, which happened on April 6 1590 , and measured between 5.7–5.8 on the Richter scale.
A third hotspot directed users to impressive videos of those brave enough to swim the channel.
In addition to the hotspots, the homepage was host to other links including an aerial map of the Strait of Dover, and scenic images of the White Cliffs themselves.
